2018 Chichester Children's Poetry Competition

The competition is now open for entries

There are three age categories 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15 years. There are three prizes in each of the age categories. These are in the form of Book Vouchers and/or vouchers for goods at local shops that sell products of interest to children. The nominal value
of the prizes in each category is:

1st prize £90, 2nd prize £50, 3rd prize £30

An award ceremony will take place in April 2018 where the prizes and certificates of merit will be presented by the Mayor of Chichester. Winning poems will then be posted on this website.

The poems will be judged by the prize winning poet and author, Emma-Jane Hughes, Lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Chichester University.

There is a fee of one pound for each entry that will be donated to charity. However, the competition is primarily focussed towards fostering creativity and international understanding and this is reflected in the theme of the competition which is:

“The Place I would like to Visit”

Poems can be based on any place, country or even continent anywhere in the world but NOT in the United Kingdom.

Entry forms and competition rules may be printed from this website and are also available from WATERSTONES in Chichester.
