After nine successful years the Rotary Club of Chichester is once again organising this established competition in 2018. This is an advance notice to children, parents and teachers to make you aware of this upcoming event.

Children living in Chichester or the surrounding districts in West Sussex will be eligible to enter the competition. There will be an International Theme to be announced before the opening date for entries in January. The closing date for entries will be in March 2018.

An award ceremony will be held at the Chichester City Council Chamber towards the end of April at which the Mayor of Chichester will present the Prizes. The entries will be judged By Emma Hughes who is lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Chichester

As in previous years there will be three age categories 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15. Generous prizes will be awarded for the three best poems in each category.

There will be a fee of one pound for each entry that will be donated to charity. However, the competition is primarily focussed towards fostering Creativity and International Understanding by children in West Sussex.

We hope this initiative will again be favourably received within West Sussex and children will be encouraged to participate. Please look out for further details via our website www.rotarypoetry.info . It will be progressively updated and will be the main source of
information before and during the competition. The results and the winning poems will also be displayed on the website after the award ceremony.
